Richard Gazarik has worked as a journalist in western Pennsylvania for more than four decades. He is a former award-winning investigative reporter who has written about government, judicial and corporate corruption.
He also has written extensively on the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight over Lockerbie, Scotland, the terrorist attack on United Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001 and the rescue of the Quecreek miners in 2002.
He is the author of Black Valley: The Life and Death of Fannie Sellins published in 2011, Prohibition Pittsburgh published in 2017 and the upcoming Wicked Pittsburgh and The Mayor of Shantytown scheduled for publication in 2018.
He is currently working on a book about McCarthyism in western Pennsylvania. His work also has appeared in Pittsburgh Magazine and Western Pennsylvania History Magazine.
